Dr. Doug McKown, Psy.D, Executive Director, has over 16 years of professional experience and is a licensed psychologist. He holds masters and doctoral degrees in clinical psychology from Fuller Graduate School of Psychology as well as a masters degree in Theology.  Experience includes private practice, Director of Counseling at the Headington Institute, staff Psychologist at the Claremont Colleges, and Loma Linda University Medical Center. Clinical expertise with adults in the following areas: depression, anxiety, bipolar, stress management, relationship/ couples therapy, clergy issues, spiritual integration, assessment, learning disabilities, and conflict resolution/communication skills.

Don  Farnham, LMFT,  received his Masters in Theology with a specialty in Marriage and Family Counseling from Fuller Theological Seminary in 1978.  He received his Marriage and Family Therapy license in 1981.  His theoretical orientation is Cognitive Behavioral, modifying cognition's, assumptions, beliefs and behaviors, with the aim of influencing disturbed emotions.  He has worked in various settings including family life ministry. He works with couples, families and individuals

Cynthia P. Cecil, MSW, ACSW, comes to the Samaritan most recently, from Pittsburgh, PA where she was a licensed clinical therapist and Director of Community Services and Staff Development for the Pittsburgh Pastoral Institute, a Samaritan Counseling Center.  She brings over 35 years of clinical and program director experience in the mental health field.  She is trained in Psycho-dynamic theory, Family Systems theory and Cognitive Behavioral therapy.  She works with teens, adults, couples and families. She is a member of the American Association of Pastoral Counselors.

Lori Sortino-Williams, Ph.D. has completed her Doctorate in Clinical Psychology from Pacifica Graduate University. In addition to her therapy work, she provides psycho-educational  evaluations. 

Janette McMurtrie, Psy. D., has a Doctorate in Clinical Psychology with over ten years of experience.  She has credentials in law enforcement and the airlines, working with critical incident debriefings and various related issues.  She specializes in couples, pilot stress management,  premarital counseling, family issues, victims of sexual trauma, PTSD, and those in crisis. She is experienced in helping those who are coping with depression, anxiety, borderline, bipolar, medical conditions and stress management. Member of The American Association of Christian Counselors (AACC).

Eileen Watrous-Tran M.S. MFTI,  has completed her Masters Degree in Counseling at Cal State Fullerton.  She has experience in a variety of client issues and especially enjoys sand-tray therapy. 
 

Jennifer Thompson, M.A. MFTI, has completed her Masters Degree in Marriage and Family Therapy at Hope International University.  She has experience with a variety of client issues, such as anxiety, depression, grief/loss, and has worked with children, adolescents, and older adults.  She is currently trained in EMDR and Prepare/Enrich.

Warren Hawkins M.A., Warren has credentials as a hypno-therapist and executive coach. 
He works in conjunction with our team of psychotherapists to aid our clients with various issues in recovery. He limits his work to these modalities.

Irene Brown, M.A.,  has a B.S. Degree in Psychology from the College of William and Mary, a Certificate in Biblical Studies from Columbia Biblical Seminary, a M.A. in Intercultural Studies from Columbia Biblical Seminary, and a M.A. in Clinical Counseling from Columbia International University. She is currently a registered Marriage and Family Therapist Intern in California. Irene has worked with people dealing with grief and loss, depression, anxiety, marital or partner relationship issues, and parent/child relationship issues.

Tino , M.A. MFTI, is a graduate of the Latin American Bible Institute. He  received his B.A. in Leadership and Mi nistry from Vanguard University and completed his Master’s degree in Clinical Psychology in Marriage and Family Therapy from Azusa Pacific University. He is also certified as a Substance Abuse Counselor. Bilingual, Tino works with individuals, couples, families, children and adolescents. Tino is fluent in both English and Spanish.

Chris Dayian, Psy.D., MFTI, has completed a Doctorate in Psychology as well as Master’s degrees in Special Education and Educational Administration.  He has credentials in education and law enforcement. He has 35 years of experience serving as a teacher, principal and project director in general, special and alternative education.  His theoretical orientation uses elements of Adlerian, Rogerian and Family Systems therapies. He works with adults, adolescents, children and individuals with special needs dealing with depression, anxiety, stress management and developmental disabilities.

Dr. Richard Foss is a clinical psychologist who specializes in working with adults who have Attention Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder, learning disabilities, depression and anxiety disorders. He has a strong interest in helping couples break negative patterns of interaction. He has an extensive background in helping professional counselors, pastors, and family caregivers recover from stress and burnout. Dr. Foss also provides psychological testing and evaluation services.

 

The Samaritan Counseling Center is supported largely through client fees and some approved health plans.
Reduced fees are available based on family size and income.
